1.58 ct Radiant Cut Lab Grown Diamond, E VVS2 - IGI Certified

Description

1.58 ct radiant cut, E color, VVS2, IGI certified, measuring 8.21 by 5.82 mm. A 1.41 length to width ratio.

E is the second grade on the color scale and reads colorless to the eye. The radiant's brilliant faceting scatters what little color is there, which is why the shape carries an E as comfortably as a round carries a D.

Setting this stone

An E belongs in a white metal if the point is to keep it cold: platinum or white gold gives the eye nothing warmer to compare it against. Four prongs on the cropped corners, or a channel of small stones along the shoulders if the ring needs more presence than a single stone at this size gives. It is also a natural half of a pair, next to the 1.56 ct radiant in the same color and clarity.

Reading the numbers

The 72% table is the number worth noticing. That is unusually open, and an open table returns light in a few broad flashes rather than many fine ones: brighter at a distance, less busy up close. The 67.4% depth is deep, which is normal for the cut and is what keeps a radiant lively rather than glassy.

Common questions

What is the difference between D and E color?

One grade. Both are in the colorless band, and the two are separated by comparing a stone against a set of master stones under controlled light. On the hand there is no difference.

Does a bigger table make a diamond look better?

It makes it look different. Large tables read bright and open, smaller tables give finer, busier scintillation. Neither is a fault; 72% sits at the open end of the range.

Could this be made into a pair of studs?

Only with a second stone that matches on outline as well as weight. The 1.56 ct E VVS2 radiant is the closest we hold, though its ratio is longer.

Questions about this piece

Is this a lab grown diamond or a mined diamond?
Lab grown. Every diamond MERVAUX sells is grown in a laboratory rather than mined. It is the same material as a mined diamond, graded on the same scale, and the carat, color and clarity on this page are read exactly the way they would be on a mined stone.
Is the metal solid, or plated?
Solid gold. MERVAUX does not use plated, gold filled or vermeil metal, so the metal here is solid all the way through. The gross weight and the metal weight are both listed in the details table on this page.
What are the specifications of this piece?
Total diamond weight 1.58 ct. Shape radiant. Clarity VVS2. The full breakdown, including every stone in the piece, is in the details table on this page.
Is the diamond IGI certified?
Yes. This piece is IGI certified. IGI issues a Laboratory Grown Diamond Report, and the report number for the stone is listed with the stone details on this page, so it can be looked up against IGI's own records.
Does MERVAUX ship free in the United States?
Shipping inside the United States is free. MERVAUX ships from Palo Alto, California, and currently ships to United States addresses only.
Can I return it if it is not right?
Yes, within 30 days of delivery, unworn and in its original packaging with proof of purchase. Email sunny@xdiamondinc.com to start a return; once it is approved MERVAUX sends a return shipping label, and the refund goes back to the original payment method within 10 business days.
