Description

1.56 ct radiant cut, E color, VVS2, IGI certified, measuring 8.12 by 5.58 mm. A 1.46 length to width ratio, long for a radiant.

The extra length shows on the finger as coverage rather than weight, and it pairs cleanly with a second stone if you are building toward a three stone ring or a matched pair of studs.

Setting an elongated radiant

A 1.46 ratio is long enough that the stone does the lengthening on its own, so it does not need a setting that stretches it further. A plain four prong solitaire on a thin band is the honest version. As a three stone center it takes tapered baguettes well, because the straight sides of the radiant meet straight side stones without a gap.

Reading the numbers

Anything above about 1.35 reads rectangular; near 1.05 a radiant reads square. At 1.46 this is clearly the elongated kind, the longest of the three radiants of this size we currently hold. The 68.1% depth and 68% table are both toward the deep, open end, a combination that favors brightness over fine scintillation.

Common questions

Does this stone match the 1.58 ct E VVS2 radiant?

On color and clarity, yes, and the weights are two hundredths of a carat apart. The outlines differ: this one is 1.46, the other is 1.41. For studs that outline difference is what to look at, not the weight.

What ratio makes a radiant cut look elongated?

Above roughly 1.35. Below about 1.15 it starts reading square, which is a different look entirely and closer to a cushion or an Asscher in feel.

Radiant or emerald cut at this size?

A radiant has brilliant faceting under a step-cut outline, so it returns more light and gives inclusions somewhere to hide. An emerald cut shows the inside of the stone. Same silhouette, opposite behavior.

Questions about this piece

Is this a lab grown diamond or a mined diamond?
Lab grown. Every diamond MERVAUX sells is grown in a laboratory rather than mined. It is the same material as a mined diamond, graded on the same scale, and the carat, color and clarity on this page are read exactly the way they would be on a mined stone.
Is the metal solid, or plated?
Solid gold. MERVAUX does not use plated, gold filled or vermeil metal, so the metal here is solid all the way through. The gross weight and the metal weight are both listed in the details table on this page.
What are the specifications of this piece?
Total diamond weight 1.56 ct. Shape radiant. Clarity VVS2. The full breakdown, including every stone in the piece, is in the details table on this page.
Is the diamond IGI certified?
Yes. This piece is IGI certified. IGI issues a Laboratory Grown Diamond Report, and the report number for the stone is listed with the stone details on this page, so it can be looked up against IGI's own records.
Does MERVAUX ship free in the United States?
Shipping inside the United States is free. MERVAUX ships from Palo Alto, California, and currently ships to United States addresses only.
Can I return it if it is not right?
Yes, within 30 days of delivery, unworn and in its original packaging with proof of purchase. Email sunny@xdiamondinc.com to start a return; once it is approved MERVAUX sends a return shipping label, and the refund goes back to the original payment method within 10 business days.
